NEXT WEEK:
Guest Seminar – Jeremy Fuksa

Jeremy Fuksa is a self-proclaimed creative generalist. “Creative generalist” sounds like an aggrandized term. It is. But, it rolls off the tongue much easier than Designer/Developer/Writer/Broadcaster/Filmmaker/Speaker/
Musician/Photographer. Plus, it looks way cooler on a business card.

The seminar will be great for Writers and Creative types. It’s free to IFC members. $5 for non-members. It will follow the regular IFC meeting on Wednesday, the 21st.

Ask the Experts: One on One with a Lawyer
9 a.m.-1 p.m. (by appointment)

Arts Incubator, 115 W. 18th St., Kansas City, MO
The lawyer is in! Make an appointment to sit down with a lawyer and discuss your arts-related legal issue for thirty minutes. Attorneys can assist with general questions related to contracts, copyrights, business formation, employment issues, and more. You must make an appointment to attend! To make an appointment, email admin@kcvlaa.org, with the subject line “Ask the Experts.” In your email, please give us a general idea of the type of issue or question you want to discuss (so we know what kind of lawyer to match you up with).

Avila University is host a one night film symposium with several venture capitalists who have started an organization to finance independent films in seven major cites. They have chosen Kansas City as their next target city to establish yet another home base and an outlet for financing. The
event will take place July 22 on the Avila Campus. I would to attend you meeting on Wednesday to present this and bring more information to involve IFC.

Reception 5-6
Seminar 6-10

Hello fellow Filmmakers-

This is Benjamin Meade, filmmaker and Professor of Film & Digital Media at Avila University. I am pleased to announce that a symposium will be held the evening of July 22nd at the Whitfield Center on our campus involving how to get investing for your film project. The symposium is presented by Thomas Trenker, founder of the Institute for International Film Financing. Please take the time to read about Thomas below and be assured that his wish is to start a chapter here in Kansas City, similar to the ones he started across the country.

There will also be several surprise guest speakers and venture capitalists. There are many people that I simply do not have email address for, so PLEASE forward this to as many people as you wish. Look for additional information as we get closer to the event. We are very pleased that Thomas has chosen Avila University for the symposium and hope you can all make it. As you know, financing in the key to filmmaking. I will attend you meeting this week with more info.

Respectfully,

Dr. Benjamin Meade
