Draft Day 2- (Actors/DP/Editors/Crew/etc) February 3rd
shooting and editing for 2 weeks

There is a $5 Draft submission fee for all people who want to be involved/drafted/picked.

Submission Deadline Feb 17th

Teach entry level PA work and how to transition to higher paying gigs.

They also are willing to train local people as instructors, as a sort of Franchise.  Might be something IFC should consider.

Early Bird Entry is $75 through January.
After that it is $125, but you can get a $10 discount with your IFC membership.

Hey all, just wanted to give you a heads up about the KCK Film fest coming up. Our “Dumb Bum” weaseled its way in next to some other awesome indie films from around KC. I’ll probably check it out as it’s 2-5 next Sat and only 5 beans so stop by if you’d like.

Intentionally make bad movies…  well crafted, bad movies… complete with all the cliches of a bad movie.

Award the “Golden Woodie”

The man who owns the rights to all/most of Ed Wood’s films lives in KC.  We’re trying to track him down.

There’s no denying that in recent years the consumption of media has changed. With the rise of new spectatorship models it seems that the old models of production and distribution are becoming less and less viable, especially for low budget projects. In the place of the old models therefore, there are a number of new ones rising up, some of which are discussed below. It’s impossible to write exhaustively about these new models, as there are no longer any clear rules or templates for filmmakers to follow. However, it should be borne in mind that many of these ‘new’ techniques are now no longer new – they are based on existing technologies and there are now many precedents for filmmakers to learn from.
