Our festival strives to provide one of the largest outlets for independent films in the world. With over 120 + films screened every year in 5 large screening halls, our desire is for the filmmaker to present his/her film to the masses and engage in new networking opportunities.

The First Biennial Kansas City Museum Short Film Competition  The history of Kansas City is written in the experience of every person who has lived here. By recording your memories of life in Kansas City, you can help preserve the history of our community. Kansas City Museum invites you to create a digital short film sharing a memory of life in our city. In five minutes or less, tell us about your memory. It could be a trip down Petticoat Lane, lunch at Sanderson’s Diner, or graduating from Paseo Academy. One video each will be recognized from the Adult, Youth and Juror’s Choice categories. Winners will receive a modest cash prize. Deadline for entry is August 1, 2012.

Kansas International Film Festival 12 Annual October 05, 2012 to October 11, 2012 The IFC theme this year will be Satire…PSAs, Infomercials, Mockumentaries….5-6 minutes. Screening on Oct 10 Need 90 minutes worth of material. Proposed schedule due dates: Submission date to IFC: 9/7/2012 Turn material over to KIFF: 9/21/2012 IFC is also hosting a party on the 10th of October!

REMINDER…This Saturday night 6pm KSMO Channel 62 will be the CinemaKC IFC episode!

ONE NIGHT STAND WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY 6/16/2012

One Night Stand issues one challenge, to write (you can pre-write but need to include all drawn elements), shoot, and edit a short film in 10 hours. Three items are drawn: a theme, an object, and a line of dialogue. All three elements must be used in the project. Shoot in 16:9, burn to a playable dvd-standard for now… $30 entry fee per team Captain will receive 2 tickets to the screening

Meet at 830am at WCH for enrollment and drawing 930am official start time for production 730pm completed project is due – turn in at Stageport.  Make sure your DVD works.  Give yourself plenty of time to edit. Give yourself plenty of time to output to approved format.

Element list will be posted on ifckc.com this weekend.

The screening will be held at STAGEPORT in the Crossroads. 208 W. 19th St. KCMO $5 entry fee for screening for IFC members; $8 for non. 8:30pm screening – Stageport Judged event…1st, 2nd, 3rd Place and Audience Choice. Also a Captain’s Award which is awarded by the other Captain’s to the best Captain.

IFC AT THE 2012 FRINGE FESTIVAL 7/19-7/29/2012 Best of the IFC-90 minute program at Screenland Crown Center Does not need to be a new film, any genre. Submit away! If you have something you want to be considered for entry, please hand off to Tim Harvey by Sunday July 15th. Not all submissions will be accepted. Must be a digital file, 16:9, quicktime or avi- NO burnt dvd!

Show schedule is: Sunday 7/22 230pm Tuesday 7/24 830pm Friday 7/27 7pm

IFC Fundraiser at Hamburger Mary’s Raunchy Bingo Thursday, July 12th at 8-10. This is a fundraiser for the IFC to purchase an HD projector.

48 Hour Film Project August 3,4 and 5, 2012 www.48hourfilm.com Producer for KC is Jason Turner August 3-5. Get your teams together now! Entry fee is $140. Screening on the following Thursday the 9th at Glenwood 48hourfilm.com or darktrainfilms.com for more info. If a team can get together a minimum of 10 people, and cover half of the entry fee ($70), IFC will cover the other half and up to three teams. Must be early bird admission fee and team must provide list to Board along with $70. There is ONE openings left for this as TWO teams have already received $70!

Do you have digital copies of your older IFC films?  Every Picture, Bentley, etc.  Tim would like to have a copy of them… and build an IFC archive. Digital copies only please!!!

We are in the process of creating a Best of IFC DVD and need a graphics designer…DVD label and insert. Free copy of DVD, credit and Everlasting IFC Love (ELIFCL) can be your reward! Also, if you are a graphic designer, we are looking for a nice dvd cover and something on the dvd as well.
