IFC at the Kansas International Film Festival (KIFF) – Weds, 10/6/2010

The IFC has long been a part of the KIFF and this year is no different. We are hosting a Weds night reception at the Glenwood Theatre located at 95th and Metcalf. The reception starts at 8pm so we need a few folks at 6:30 to help pick up food and beverage, transport  and help setup. The event will go 2-3 hours so we will also need a couple of people to help with tear down. Show your IFC pride – volunteer! If you are interested in helping email Matt at volunteer@ifckc.com.

IFC at First Friday’s – 9/3/2010

The IFC could use a few people to help with our monthly IFC at First Friday’s event in the street at the Hemingway Gallery. Show up around 7:30 to help put up the screen and get the projector and speakers set up. The Hemingway is behind Town Topic which is on the corner of 19th and Baltimore in the Crossroads District. Hang around during the screenings to answer questions about the IFC!

Actor’s Seminar! THIS SUNDAY!

(Gang, I spoke with Debbie several times.  She seems legit and cool.  Might be worth the time and money for you.  We know it’s last minute, but I told her I’d post… BB)

Hi IFC-KC!

I spoke w/Brian Boye about a seminar I’m hosting in KC! I know he’s traveling & not sure who else to send this to – so to be safe, I’m sending it to you ALL!
I first became attracted to KC talent when I was casting for the Coen Brothers (TRUE GRIT) in Tulsa, OK, last fall. I auditioned several actors from your region for principle roles and was very impressed! I sent casting notices out to KC agents for our Round #2 – and remained impressed!!
We’d be happy to offer a 50% discount to all your members! Is it possible to send a blurb or post?
Please contact us w/ any questions!

Whether you’re a seasoned professional – or just starting out – Debbie’s insight is indispensable. A must for all people who want to be “cast.” Especially for those who want to bring their game to a new level. Find out what REALLY goes on behind-closed-doors in casting sessions. Hear it from Debbie herself – what endears people to CD’s and Directors AND what are the big turn-off’s. Focus is on the “business side” of being an actor. Bring your headshots & resumes (if you have them), along with your questions – as Debbie will give honest and direct feedback. Debbie will help identify what works best in getting hired. Most importantly, she’ll break down key components in creating a lasting impression and a sustainable career in show business. Whether you’re already established in the acting community or just beginning – you can never have too many contacts or opportunities for more work – so don’t miss this exclusive event! The focus is not just  about getting hired – but how to STAY working.

DEBBIE DELISI BIO: Debbie DeLisi is a Casting Director who’s work has traversed the globe. Debbie has cast countless people in everything from A-list projects (Coen Brothers, Clint Eastwood, Robert Altman, ABC, NBC) to rugged indies. From coast-to-coast, Debbie has cast principles, day players, extras, etc. She just finished work in the casting department of TRUE GRIT, the newest film by the Coen Brothers – where she served as the Principle Casting Asst and Extras Casting Director. She has been “in the room” with the industry’s most notable and successful Directors – so she knows first-hand how deals are both sealed and destroyed. She also loves underground, guerilla-style projects – which puts her people friendly (actor finding!) skills to good use. She has the ability to get actors “in front of” the right people. Credits Include: The Coen Brothers TRUE GRIT, A SERIOUS MAN and FARGO. Clint Eastwood’s GRAN TORINO, Robert Altman’s A PRAIRE HOME COMPANION, ABC’s TRUE BEAUTY, Vh1, NBC, among many others. National commercial clients include Target, Best Buy, Miller Beer, Budweiser, etc.
Debbie DeLisi is one of the few people successful in the arts and entertainment industry, both in front of and behind the camera. She has worked consistently on both coasts and at throughout the midwest, for the past decade. Most notable, is Debbie’s commitment to giving unknowns a chance. She has given many of today’s working professionals their initial break – or life-changing unique opportunities.
Mostly, if you want honest answers.. bring your QUESTIONS! Debbie believes in speaking what she knows to be the truth about the casting process and what goes on behind-closed-doors.
